History of Eloy Veterans Center (EVC):

The Eloy Veterans Center (EVC) was started in 2010 to assist Veterans in Eloy and surrounding areas. The efforts first began with the hiring of an AmeriCorps volunteer. This AmeriCorps volunteer was instrumental in developing the EVC and Eloy Veterans Park. The EVC and Eloy Veterans Park are a partnership between the City of Eloy and Pinal Hispanic Council. The EVC and Pinal Hispanic Council began the Eloy Veterans Community Garden in 2016. It is estimated that approximately 500 Veterans and their families are engaged in activities on an annual basis.
• The EVC acts as a gathering place for Veterans.
• The EVC provides emergency assistance in terms of food boxes, food vouchers, transportation vouchers and fuel, prescription assistance, medical equipment and clothing and maintains a small food pantry.
• The EVC provides outreach and referrals, job searches/placement and computer access.
• The EVC provides assistance with connecting Veterans to agencies that can assist in getting Veteran benefits.
• The EVC, in partnership with the City of Eloy, established the Eloy Veterans Park, owned and maintained by the City of Eloy.
• The Veterans Community Garden serves as a place for meditation and seasonal vegetable planting.
• The EVC is working on having its first annual Eloy Wreaths Across American event where Veterans will place approximately 465 wreaths for Veterans buried at the City of Eloy Cemetery.
• The EVC hosts the annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day events in Eloy.
